International Yacht Bureau (IYB) is an independent organization with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the marine environment. Our history dates back to 2006, when IYB was established in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of private and commercial yachts.
Today, our network of survey and plan approval stations can be found in every major yachting location worldwide.
The responsibility of IYB is similar to that of a classification society, such as ABS, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, etc, but focused solely on yachts. IYB verifies that yachts within its Register comply with the standards that are established for design, construction, and periodic survey.
IYB recognizes that the yachting world is changing with more emphasis on complex designs, life cycle management, unified standards, and safety equivalencies.
IYB's management system voluntarily complies with the quality and environmental standards of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and the International Association of Classification Societies' (IACS) QSCS.
